May Networking Event

When: May 22, 2009 7:00 PM

Program: Join SWE members for White Oak Vineyards' Friday Night Wine Down. Significant others are welcome and we especially encourage you to bring friends or coworkers who are interested in SWE. White Oak has a band every Friday evening in the summer, and offers their full selection of wine as well as an $8 dinner (although you can bring your own food; just not any alcohol as the vineyard would lose their license to make and sell wine). The band for the 22nd is Boomerang Classic Rock Band. I also recommend you bring your own folding/camping chair.

We'll have a sign that says "Heart of Iowa SWE" on our chairs so you'll be able to find us.

Location: White Oak Vineyards
15065 NE White Oak Drive
Cambridge, IA 50046

volunteers to help present in one of two different time slots: 8:30- 9:18am or 1:00-2:30pm. The first time slot is one class and the second includes two classes. Each class
will see us only once. Dates for the presentation can be flexible to meet the volunteers’ schedules.
Presentations typically involve a discussion about what we do as engineers, other types of
engineering, and required education; followed by a hands-on activity to give students a chance

ISU Section's Silly Supper/Senior Farewell

When: April 11, 2007 6:00

Program: 6-6:30 Socializing
6:30-7:30 Eating

It should be a great event to come and talk with students and enjoy an entertaining meal. It will be a relaxed environment to allow students to network with professionals and for us to say goodbye to the seniors who will be moving on to other things.

How the meal works: A series of courses (most likely 3 or 4) of 3 items each will be served. The items are selected from a random engineering word list (the menu) by each person. For instance, you may order your first course of "Distillation, Fortran 90, and Radiation" and end up with "corn, jello, and a spoon". So everyone's meals will be eaten in a different order and using different utensils. A full meal will be served by the end though. All this combined it should be a very silly, fun meal.

Cost: $10 for a meal

Location: Howe Hall Atrium on ISU's campus in Ames

We will also need at least two volunteers to work at a Younkers store during the sale stocking items, selling tickets at the doors, etc. If we sell 50 tickets or more, we'll also get a cut of the tickets sold at the door! The tickets will be good at the sales at all Younkers stores in Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, and Michigan, which are on Saturday, November 10, 6am - 10am. (The store in downtown Des Moines and in downtown Iowa City are holding the sales on November 8. All others will be on November 10.)
